University markets academic programs on radio

Animal Science lecturer Freddy Gena promotes UNRE graduates to the industry.
Staff and students of the University have been going on air on NBC Radio East New Britain (RENB) to inform the people of East New Britain on the role of the University and the developments taking place.
Apart from the University’s Radio Program, Uni Tokaut, which is broadcasted on RENB every Thursday at 7pm, the radio station has given its listeners another opportunity to hear firsthand from UNRE students what they are learning and from staff what they are teaching and the research they are involved in. This is either recorded or aired live once a month.
The initiative by the University’s Public Relations Office is to help people, particularly high school and secondary school students, to understand what UNRE is all about. It began last month with the Career Expo team who went live on RENB explaining why the University is hosting the Career Expo for its final year students.
On April 11, a team of four staff and two students spoke on RENB's Government Talk Show about:
  • What UNRE stands for;
  • Why UNRE is the choice to make;
  • Who is eligible for UNRE;
  • How to get to UNRE;
  • What to expect at UNRE; and
  • Where to go after UNRE.
The PR Office is planning another exciting program in May.

Year 3 Fisheries student Marzena Marinjembi hopes to work in conservation after she graduates.
