UNRE Vudal hosts Trukai fun run for the first time

PNG University of Natural Resources and Environment Vice Chancellor led more than 150 participants in the 2018 Trukai Fun Run at the Vudal Campus on Sunday.

Vice Chancellor Professor John Warren and his wife Dr Cathryn Warren joined students, staff and their dependents to complete the 3 kilometre run. Awards were given to the best runners.
UNRE Students Representative Council President Jasper Daun said the event was first of its kind to be held at the Campus, outside of Kokopo and Rabaul.
He said he observed that the event caught the attention of campus residents and motivated those who hardly exercise or participated in sports to take part.
He added that organising such event shows the University’s commitment and support to national events in the country.    
Professor Warren thanked Head of Library and Information Communication Technology (ICT) Russell Deka for organising the event.
Mr Deka said since the event attracted many participants and he is looking forward to improving it next year.
He thanked the University management, Trukai Industries Limited and Coco-Cola Amatil (PNG) Ltd for their support.
He also acknowledged and thanked all the participants for their response and time.
More than K3,000 was raised from the sales of the Fun Run T-shirts. All monies collected by the University’s Public Relations Office from the sales were handed over to Mr Deka on Friday.
Mr Deka said the money will be used to assist UNRE Cowboys and other sporting activities at the University.

The five programs are: Degree in Environment and Climate Change; and Advanced Diploma in Environmental Health under the Department of Climate Change, Health and Development; and Degree in Renewable Energy and Environmental Engineering; Advanced Diploma in Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation; and Advanced Diploma in Environmental Engineering under the Department of Environmental Engineering. UNRE launches Cocoa and Goat Integration Manual

NARI Kerevat Research Leader Godfrey Hannet launches the new Goat training manual as Acting PVC Academic & Research Peter Navus (right) looks on.  PNG University of Natural Resources and Environment through its farmer training centre has launched the Cocoa and Goat Integration Training Manual and opened a Goat Breeding Centre. The event, which was held last month was attended by university staff; representatives from NARI, NAQIA and PNG Cocoa Board; James Butubu Area Manager ACIAR Bougainville; and acting Pro Vice Chancellor Academic and Research Mr Peter Navus. UNRE takes back UNRE Popondetta

Oro Provincial Administration staff with UNRE officers. PNG University of Natural Resources and Environment will resume offering its Academic Programs at PNG UNRE Popondetta Campus in Oro Province next year (2021). This follows a decision by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST). Last week UNRE Chancellor Professor Kenneth Sumbuk and acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor Planning and Development Dr Francis Essacu, with senior staff from UNRE Popondetta Campus met with Oro Provincial Administrator Trevor Magei and executive members from the Office of Governor Garry Juffa to discuss the latest development of Popondetta Campus.
