Look after University facilities - VC

PNG UNRE Vice-Chancellor Professor Aisak Pue has called on students to look after university facilities.

The VC told students in his message to them at the Orientation Welcome last week that over the last five years, the University has spent millions of Kina to renovate dormitories.

He said the money could be used for other developments in the university.

He said as a university student you are expected to perform at a certain level even coming from rural areas.

“These are things that we want you to look after as a responsible citizen of this country. Apart from these, other infrastructure are being upgraded, repaired or built to cater for the University’s growth,” said Professor Pue.

Meanwhile, acting Dean of the Centre for Graduate Studies & Research Dr Nason Pue who gave the Keynote Address at the Orientation program, told new students that they have come to a place that requires hard work, diligence, patience and commitment.

A graduate of the institution, himself, Dr Pue said the training they get at PNG UNRE will give them a good foundation; and the skills and knowledge to work in either the government or private sector; and will also train them to create employment to help others.

“UNRE is training people to go where real life is, sustain where you live by wisely utilising the resources you have and UNRE is the place that will provide you with the skills and knowledge to do that,” Dr Pue said.

He said PNG UNRE is building people of character and urged the students to focus on their studies.

He also encouraged them to be critical thinkers, to be analytical and develop the ability to filter valuable information from a host of information available to them.
